Belogradchik Rock Fortress is a well-preserved ancient fortress on the north slope of the Balkan Mountains, originally built by the Romans incorporating the natural rock formations.

Sofia
Boyana Church is a medieval Bulgarian Orthodox Church. The east wing was bult in the 10th or 11th century, the central wimg was added in the 13th century, and the western epansion was built in the 19th century. Photography is not allowed inside. The church has magnificent frescoes.
Sofia's National History Museum is Bulgaria's largest museum. We were particularly interested in the Thracian treasures.
Sofia Synagogue is a Romaniote Orthodox Jewish congregation, the largest synagogue in southeast Europe, built in 1909.
