Charlotte fulfilled a life-long dream and visited the southern Atlantic sub-Antarctic islands and the Antarctic Peninsula in February 2006 with Joseph van Os Photo Safaris. The expedition ship, the Vavilov, sailed east through the Scotia Arc islands, to the Falkland Islands, to South Georgia, then southwest through the South Orkneys, to the South Shetlands and the Antarctic Peninsula, and returned due north across the Drake Passage to Ushuaia, the southern tip of Argentinian Patagonia.
