South Orkneys
We did not land in the South Orkneys, but traversed the area to see the huge tabular icebergs. These calf off the Weddell Sea's ice shelves and are driven northward by prevailing winds and currents. The large tabular icebergs ground on the shallow continental shelf along the south side of the South Orkneys, forming this "iceberg graveyard".
