Carriacou lies to the north of the main island of Grenada in the Grenadines Islands in the Caribbean. Its largest settlement is Hillsborough, the capital. The island's name comes from the Carib word "Kayryouacou", meaning "the land of reefs". Carriacou is reachable by ferries from Grenada. Most diving takes place on the calmer Caribbean side.
