Fisk Quarry, near the southern end of Isle la Motte, is the oldest quarry in Vermont, dating from the 19th century. The black, called "radio black", and grey, called "French grey" limestone were used to build many famous structures, including the Brooklyn Bridge. Many stromatoporoid mounds are visible in the quarry walls. This is the oldest part of the Chazy Fossil Reef.
