Moray eels have no pectoral or ventral fins. They have one long continuous fin that begins behind the head, encircles the tail, and extends midway down the belly. The constantly open and close their mouths to move water over their gills.

Snake eels strongly resemble snakes and have almost no fins, and are usually seen with only their heads protruding.
