We took an underwater photography trip to the Philippines in December 2016. We returned in November 2024.
Sea urchins are small round spiny globular echinoderm animals related to sand dollars, sea stars, sea cucumbers, brittle stars, and crinoids. The name "urchin" is an old word for "hedgehog", which sea urchins resemble. They have fivefold symmetry and can move by means of hundreds of tiny transparent tube feet.
