We took an underwater photography trip to the Philippines in December 2016. We returned in November 2024.
Frogfish (anglerfish) are stocky and often covered with spinules and other camouflage appendages. They may be covered with algae or hydrozoa. Rather than a dorsal fin, they have a illicium (rod) topped with the esca (lure). They use their pectoral and pelvic fins to walk along the sea floor and rarely swim.
