Private morning photo tour with Martin Kohn of Skippers Canyon, a historic and scenic gorge 22km north of Queenstown.
The gorge was carved by the Shotover River, one of New Zealand's richest gold-bearing rivers. Remnants of the mining operations are all around.
Rafting is popular.
After lunch we photographed the rock formations in the high desert overlooking the Nevis River Valley. Duffers Saddle is the highest point on the Nevis Road. At around 1300m it is the highest pass on a public road in New Zealand.
