Madagascar Photo Gallery: Canal des Pangalanes

The Canal des Pangalanes (Pangalanes Lakes) consists of a series of natural rivers, waterways, and man-made lakes that extends for over 645 km (400 miles) along the east coast of Madagascar, used for transportation and fishing.

We stayed at Akanin'ny Nofy (Palmarium Lodge) on Ampitabe Lake. The lodge's name means "nest of dreams".

The lodge hosts a private wildlife preserve. The animals are used to people.

Aye-aye Island is a short boat ride away. It is the only possible place where there is a reasonable chance of being able to photograph an aye-aye.
