Zoanthids appear similar to anemones. The oral disk lacks tentacles except for two marginal rings on the outer edge. Normally one ring points up and the other down.
Tube anemones (cerianthids) have long wispy outer tentacles and an inner tuft of short tentacles protected by a parchmentlike tube anchored in the sand or mud bottom. Many extend their tentacles only at night, and are quite sensitive to light and touch, quickly retracting when disturbed.
Other anemones are attached solitary polyps which only rarely move.
