El Yunque Caribbean National Forest
El Yunque rainforest is a 28,000-acre reserve at the eastern end of Puerto Rico in the Sierra de Luquillo mountains. It is the only tropical forest in the U. S. National Forest system, as well as the smallest and most ecologically diverse. It receives more than 240 inches of rain a year. We visited El Yunque in December, 2008.
