Philippines Photo Gallery: Dumaguete

We took a second underwater photography trip to the Philippines in March, 2023, this time to Dumaguete.

Dumaguete is the capital of the province of Negros Oriental on the island of Negros, southest of Luzon. Dumageuete has four marine protected areas covering 104 hectares that host over 200 species of fish.

We stayed at Atmosphere in Dauin at the southeast tip of Negros Island. Volcanic Apo Island lies 7km offshore and is surrounded by a marine reserve. It is ringed by coral reefs, giving us an area of wall diving as a break from muck diving.

Apo Island

Atmosphere's dive shop specializes in muck diving and has great support for underwater photographers. The food and facilities are excellent as well. And you can set up explorations of Negros Oriental, with its mountains, hot springs, waterfalls, and bird life.
